Indian Railways to set up institute for accounting training


The railways is going to set up its own training institute to impart training and improve finance and accounting skills among its officials.

It will set up an Indian Railway Institute of Financial Management (IRIFM) at Secunderabad to train its officials in accounting and finance.

The state-run transporter will also start a specialized programme to depute middle-level finance officers abroad for training.

Announcing the decision on the occasion of Indian Railway Account Services (IRAS) day, Vijaya Kanth, financial commissioner of railways, asked IRAS officers to examine their role in public service that is meant to be efficient and effective with integrity.

She exhorted the officers to improve their skills which should keep pace with developments outside the finance world.

BSE opens training institute in Pune

BSE Institute has opened a new training centre in Pune. The new institute will cater to the students willing to make it big in the Indian financial sector, BSE Institute said in a statement here.

BSE already runs training centres in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Kolkata besides Mumbai.

BSE Institute offers specialised training in financial markets through both short-term courses as well as through certification programmes of longer durations.

"We are launching our centre in Pune to help the students of this city seek careers in financial markets. Since this a dynamic fast evolving field, we are confident that the students of Pune will be eager to build a career in financial markets by doing courses with the BSE Institute," BSE Institute MD & CEO Ambarish Datta said.

To begin with, the Pune centre of BSE Institute Ltd will offer all its current programmes to the financial aspirants, it said.
